Evening Primrose Oil
Evening primrose oil offers a number of castor oil benefits, mainly due to the essential fatty acids it contains. Like castor oil, evening primrose oil can be used to help start labor, and can be used for skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis.
There is scant evidence to back up claims that evening primrose oil is actually effective for the treatment of many health problems. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has now withdrawn licenses for the oil to be used as a prescription medication due to a lack of evidence.
Pure Essential Oils
If you buy a collection of pure essential oils, you can use them to treat many health complaints. Tea tree oil is antiseptic and anti-bacterial, lavender oil can be used to treat skin abrasions, and fennel oil is used to improve gastrointestinal function. Each essential oil has a specific but quite narrow range of benefits, and you need to mix them with a carrier oil before application. If you do decide to use essential oil, you can combine them with castor oil benefits by using this as the carrier oil.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil moisturizes and softens the skin, and is a good treatment for sunburn. The problem with this oil is that it can clog up the pores and is therefore not suitable for facial use by everyone. When the pores get clogged, spots are likely to follow. One of the great castor oil benefits is that it can be used all over the body, including the face. It tightens pores, but does not clog them, and is a great oil for cleansing the skin.
